Dear faculty and staff members,

It’s my pleasure to announce that Dr. Jaimie Hebert will be provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ of ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ at Lafayette.

Some of you had a chance to meet him during his visits as a candidate to our campus. I’m thankful for your participation in the search process.

We’ll welcome Dr. Hebert home on July 1. In addition to his solid higher education credentials, he already is familiar with UL Lafayette’s mission and values. He’s an alumnus and scholar who shares our Ragin’ Cajun spirit.

Dr. Hebert received three degrees from UL Lafayette. He received a bachelor’s in 1986, a master’s in 1988 and a doctorate in 1990 – all in statistics.

Dr. Hebert was most recently president of Georgia Southern ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ. He led the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ System of Georgia consolidation of Georgia Southern ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ with Armstrong State ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ.

Before his appointment as president at Georgia Southern, he was provost and vice president of Academic Affairs from 2011 to 2016 at Sam Houston State ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ.

At Sam Houston State ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ, he was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from 2005 to 2011, and chair and professor of statistics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics from 1999 to 2005. He was an assistant and associate professor of statistics at Sam Houston from 1995 to 1999, and an assistant professor of mathematical science at Appalachian State ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ from 1990 to 1995.

His appointment to UL Lafayette is pending approval by the Board of Supervisors of the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ of ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ System.

I’d like to thank the search committee members and chair Dr. Dianne Olivier for their diligence and proficiency to lead us to the selection of Dr. Hebert.

I share the appreciation of many for Dr. David Danahar’s contributions over the past two years advancing the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ. I’m pleased he’ll continue working at the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ as senior adviser in my office.
