Amanda Mayeaux is a Graduate Coordinator and an Assosiate Professor for the Ed.D. program.

Biography

Amanda Shuford Mayeaux, Ed.D., has worked in education for over three decades from classroom to leadership positions at various levels. Since joining the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ of ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ at Lafayette, she has worked with aspiring school and state leaders, as well as emerging academics, in the M.Ed. and Ed.D. programs.

Her research interests include teacher expertise, experiences of rural gifted ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵs and families, reducing organizational barriers to ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ success, policy construction, and comprehensive training for emerging leaders.

Amanda’s work with doctoral ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵs spans a wide variety of research focused on topics critical to ensuring all ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵs are offered opportunities for fair and equal education. In 2003 she was named a Milken Family Educator and was the Disney Teacher of the Year and Disney Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2006. She is the co-author of several publications, including Expertise in Every Classroom.

Dr. Mayeaux's research team is currently working on understanding the development of decisional capital in novice teachers. Additionally, ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ researcher may be interested in policy work the Department of Educational Foundation & Leadership is developing.
