Biography
A native of ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ, Shawn Roy is currently employed with the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ of ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ at Lafayette as Coordinator of the Vocal Area, as well as voice teacher and director of Opera and Musical Theatre studies. He holds the Drs. Chuck and Sue Lein BORSP Professorship in Music. Prior to his appointment at UL Lafayette, Shawn performed internationally in opera and musical theatre, appearing with such companies as Virginia Opera, Tulsa Opera, Cleveland Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Sarasota Opera as well as three tours with New York City Opera and on tour with Opera Europa in France, Switzerland, Belgium and Spain. He also appeared with the West Norwegian Opera in Bergen, Norway and with the Bolivia National Symphony in La Paz, Bolivia. He recently appeared with the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, the UL Lafayette Symphony and the UL Lafayette Wind Ensemble. Shawn’s stage directing credits include Les Misérables, Sweeney Todd, Hansel and Gretel, The Barber of Seville, The Marriage of Figaro, Carmen, Cosi Fan Tutte, Die Fledermaus and Gianni Schicchi this coming fall, all for the UL Lafayette Opera Theatre. Shawn holds membership is Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Pi Kappa Lambda, Phi Kappa Phi and The National Association of Teachers of Singing, where he recently finished a four-year term as Regional Governor for the Southern Region. He is also a National Arts Associate for Sigma Alpha Iota
