Animation program top rankings cite UL Lafayette

The ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ of ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ at Lafayette’s animation program is ranked No. 14 in the South and No. 37 among public schools and colleges in the nation for 2015 by Animation Career Review.

ACR is source of information for prospective animation or game design ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵs. According to its website, it evaluates programs based on:

  • academic reputation;
  • admission selectivity;
  • depth and breadth of a program and faculty;
  • value as it relates to tuition and indebtedness; and
  • geographic location.

About 225,000 viewers access the company’s website each month.

UL Lafayette is one of three ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ universities included in ACR’s top 20 animation schools and colleges in the South. The others are LSU in Baton Rouge and Southeastern ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ in Hammond.

Ringling College of Art and Design, Sarasota, Fla. is ranked No. 1 in the South, followed by Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga.

ACR defines the South as Florida, Georgia, Alabama, ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

UCLA’s animation workshop, created in 1948, is the No. 1 public animation school in the nation, the ACR report shows. The Ohio State ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ and Texas A&M ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ have the second- and third-highest ranking of public animation schools in the country, respectively.

APR ranked the top 50 in that category. UL Lafayette, LSU and Southeastern ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ are the only ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ universities on the list.
