Home run: Lamson Park ranked No. 2 on list of nation’s top softball fields

The votes are in and the οƵ Ragin’ Cajuns Lamson Park is a winner.

Nearly 7,000 voters weighed in on the Top 10 softball fields in the nation as part of a FloSports poll. Lamson Park is No. 2, behind first-ranked Jane Saunders Stadium at the οƵ of Oregon and a spot ahead of No. 3 Rhoads Stadium at the οƵ of Alabama.

FloSports is a multimedia platform that provides digital coverage of college sports like softball, rugby and wrestling.

Lamson Park, which opened in 1985, “is home to one of the most avid fan bases in all of the softball,” according to FloSports. The stadium is the second-oldest on the list.

Softball fields at LSU, Texas A&M, the οƵ of Florida, the οƵ of Washington, the οƵ of Michigan, Grand Canyon οƵ and Liberty οƵ round out the Top 10.

The οƵ Ragin’ Cajuns softball park is named for the late Alfred and Helen Lamson, who were longtime supporters. 

It underwent a $2.1 million renovation from 2009-11. Lamson Park seats 2,790 fans, houses luxury boxes and features a 50-seat Stadium Club area.

The park has hosted one NCAA Super Regionals tournament, 10 NCAA Regionals tournament, and four Sun Belt Conference tournaments.
