April Nicole Pruitt and Jonathan Alexander will reign as queen and king of the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ of ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ at Lafayette’s 2019 Homecoming.
Pruitt, Alexander and the eight other members of the Homecoming Court will ride in the annual Homecoming Parade that begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2. Later that day, members will be presented during halftime of the Homecoming game. The ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Ragin’ Cajuns will face the Texas State Bobcats at 4 p.m. at Cajun Field.
Any registered ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ organization or athletic team could submit nominations for the court. A panel of faculty, staff, ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ-athletes and ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ leaders interviewed the applicants, and assigned scores to each.
The 10 nominees with the highest scores became members of the court. The highest-scoring female and male applicants were Pruitt and Alexander.
Below is a list of court members and some of their achievements.
Jonathan Alexander is a senior from New Orleans majoring in finance.
He was nominated by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
During his time at UL Lafayette, he has been ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Government Association chair, Alpha Phi Alpha president, an Association of Future Alumni member, a Patricia Cottonham Fraternity President of the Year Award recipient, a Greek Hall of Fame inductee, and assistant director of Huger Hall for the Office of ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Housing and Residential Life.
Alexander is the son of Nelson and Cecilia Alexander.
Hailey Boutte is a junior from Shreveport, La., majoring in strategic communication with a concentration in public relations.
She was nominated by the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Orientation Staff.
During her time at UL Lafayette, Boutte has been an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority member, ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Program Council spirit director, ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Government Association vice president, ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Orientation staff member and parent orientation leader, Emerging Leader Summit executive director and ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Leadership Council member.
She is the daughter of Randy and Candace Boutte.
Bria Burrell is a senior from Franklin, La., majoring in public relations.
She was nominated by Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship.
During her time at UL Lafayette, Burrell has been a Chi Alpha women's life group leader, worship team member, and step team member. She participated in a stateside mission trip to Texas for Mardi Gras Outreach. She has also been a Public Relations ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Society of America vice president, Compassion International African-American Relations intern and Teche Theatre for the Performing Arts member. She received a LAGRANT scholarship.
Her parents are Phil and Gary Burrell.
Yusef Garrett Davis is a senior from Baton Rouge majoring in kinesiology with a concentration in sports management.
He was nominated by the Black ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Union.
During his time at UL Lafayette, Davis has been Black ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Union president, an Alpha Phi Alpha historian, a residential assistant, a ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Ragin’ Cajuns ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ photography intern, and a Forbes Agency photography intern.
He is the son of Candace Semien and Reginald Davis.
Brooklyn Alexandra Fields-Meaux is a junior from Rayne, La., majoring in journalism.
She was nominated by SOUL Camp.
During her time at UL Lafayette, Fields-Meaux has been a part of the Office of Orientation for two years and a National Association of Black Journalists award recipient. Fields-Meaux works at the Acadia Parish Library branch in Rayne, La., and teaches art classes for local nursing homes.
She is the daughter of George Meaux and Connie Fields-Meaux.
Dylan Hebert is a senior from Lafayette, La., majoring in secondary social studies education.
He was nominated by the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Government Association.
While at UL Lafayette, Hebert has been the Outstanding Senior for the College of Education, a ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Orientation Staff Leadership Team member, ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Government Association College of Education president, Sigma Chi Fraternity treasurer, a UL LIFE Program mentor and a Muscular Dystrophy Association Camp Starlight counselor.
He is the son of Donny and Melanie Hebert.
Elijah List is a junior from Springhill, La., majoring in strategic communication with a concentration in public relations.
He was nominated by the Public Relations ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Society of America.
During his time at UL Lafayette, List has been UL Public Relations ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Society of America vice president, UL Honors Program honors board historian, Sigma Alpha Lambda Honor Society vice president-academic achievement, a Krewe of Artemis-Springhill Mardi Gras Krewe member, Pride of Acadiana Marching Band and Concert Band member. He received four endowed scholarships from the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ.
He is the son of James and Carol List.
April Nicole Pruitt is a senior from Opelousas, La., majoring in biology.
She was nominated by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
While at UL Lafayette, she has been ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Program Council president and Alpha Kappa Alpha secretary. She received the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ’s President's Leadership Award, and the President's Volunteer Service Award through the Corporation for National and Community Service. Pruitt has completed three biomedical research internships, including one at Stanford ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ. She is Catholic Education teacher at Holy Family/St. Ann Catholic parishes.
Her parents are Ronald Lee and Corlette A. Pruitt.
Adam Roach is a senior from New Orleans majoring in computer science.
He was nominated by Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
During his time at UL Lafayette, he has been Lambda Chi Alpha recruitment chair, a Ragin’ Cajun Esports Team member, a campus tour guide and a Second Harvest Food Bank volunteer.
He is the son of Maria and Harry Roach.
Madison Scioneaux is a senior from Thibodaux, La., majoring in marketing.
She was nominated by the Panhellenic Council.
During her time at UL Lafayette, she has been Panhellenic president and Panhellenic Council vice president of administration. She has been a Delta Delta Delta Sorority member and social events chair, and a ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Government Association senator for the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration. Other memberships include the American Marketing Association, Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the National Society of Leadership and Success, and Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society. She interned at the UL Lafayette ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Union as an event planner and is a McIlhenny Company international marketing intern.
Her parents are Gerard and Penny Scioneaux.
