UL Lafayette grad will celebrate Easter Vigil with pope

A ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ of ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ at Lafayette graduate will assist Pope Francis at the Easter Vigil in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

Patrick Broussard graduated from the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ in 2007 with a degree in engineering. Now a deacon, he is studying moral theology at the Pontifical ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome. He is scheduled to be ordained a priest in June.

The Mass will be televised Saturday from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on EWTN, which is channel 19 on Cox and channel 9 on LUS Fiber in the Lafayette area.

The Easter Vigil will be celebrated in the Papal Chapel of the Vatican basilica on Holy Saturday, which is the last day of Lent.

Broussard shared the news about serving with the pope with friends and family on his Facebook page on April 4.

Earlier this week, Broussard was at a retreat to prepare for his ordination.
