The Taylor Opportunity Program for ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵs (TOPS) provides ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ high school graduates meeting specific eligibility requirements with a scholarship if they choose to attend a ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ public college or university. Learn more about the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ TOPS program.
A Legacy ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ is an out-of-state ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ whose parent(s) graduated from UL Lafayette; these ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵs are granted a non-resident fee exemption.
A ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Legacy ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ is an out-of-state ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ whose parent(s) graduated from a regionally accredited ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ university or college other than UL Lafayette; these ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵs are granted a non-resident fee exemption.

The ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ Educate Program (LEP) is a four-year residential scholarship program for academically exceptional ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵs who qualify for ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ TOPS and a Federal Pell Grant. Participants must be a graduate of one of the following:
- Any Orleans Parish public high school
- Carencro High School (Lafayette Parish)
- Northside High School (Lafayette Parish)

ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵs who place first in any UL Lafayette Literary Rally event are eligible for a one-time $100 scholarship. Contact us for verification and processing.
ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵs who have had open heart surgery, heart surgery, or cardiovascular surgery at any point in their life may be eligible for the Beryl Shipley Mended Hearts Scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must have a 2.5 cumulative high school GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Must be admitted to UL Lafayette
- Must have undergone open heart surgery, heart surgery, or cardiovascular surgery
- Must provide detailed documentation of exact medical condition, diagnosis, and prognosis.

Scholarships available to the graduating seniors of these high schools have been generously donated to the UL Lafayette Foundation. The donors have specified that the scholarships are to be awarded to graduates of these schools.
Out-of-state ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵs with high achievements in dance performance, debate, visual arts, music performance, or theatre performance may be granted a fee waiver if the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ's presence will improve the education opportunities of other ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵs. Cheerleaders, flag corps, and ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ-recognized or sponsored spirit groups that perform at athletic game activities may also be considered in this group.
Eligibility Requirements
The applying ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ must meet each of the following criteria:
- Demonstrate high achievement in the appropriate performance area
- Have a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in high school, if applying before entering college, or at least 24 hours of college work (transfer ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵs must have no need for remedial course work and must have successfully completed college algebra and freshman English)
- Demonstrate leadership
- Receive a satisfactory rating in an interview (personal or by telephone)
- Commit to continuous participation in the appropriate area at the granting institution and
- Must be regularly admitted to the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ of ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ at Lafayette

- Scholarships will be awarded based on the information submitted in your application for admission.
Award
- Full non-resident fee exemption (Approximately $6,864 each semester for up to 10 semesters)
Every member of the Pride of Acadiana Marching Band is eligible to receive a scholarship, and some stipends and scholarships are available for other bands and ensembles. Not only is performing an exciting opportunity to continue playing, but it is also a great way to earn money for college.
When searching for additional resources to fund your education, explore external scholarships. There are millions of dollars given annually to college ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵs from scholarship foundations, private businesses, professional clubs, and organizations.
Local Search
Begin searching for local opportunities with your high school guidance counselor and community library. Next, check with your parents' or guardians’ employers for any dependent-of-employee scholarships. Also, check with your church and civic organizations, especially in which you or your parents are members.
Online Search
After your local search, consider free online scholarship search services, such as or These agencies scan their database of awards and notify you to apply for those that match up against your personal profile. Avoid any search that charges a fee — it could be a scam.

Incoming freshmen who are citizens of a federally recognized American Indian Tribe are invited to apply for the UL Lafayette American Indian Scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a first-time freshman
- Must have a 2.75 cumulative GPA on a non-weighted scale
- Must be registered as a full-time ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ
- Must be a citizen of a federally recognized American Indian Tribe from any state
- Must submit a copy of the Tribal Enrollment Card attached to your application
- Must be regularly admitted to the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ of ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓƵ at Lafayette
